16/I/16 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 15/VII/18 (2016-39)
Clear orange beer, big irregular creamy off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: orange peel, funky, bit zesty, some brett, citrus. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, orange peel, pretty bitter, zesty, little sourish, funky, grassy. Aftertaste: some grapefruit, citrus, bit of banana, bitter, orange peel. I have the feeling this is an Orval impression and a pretty good one for that matter.

(Thx!) 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “2de Bierproeffestival van De Dijleschuimers”. Hazy golden, small white. Nose is weird metallic, rotting apple, butter, rotting funk, spoiled milk. Taste is rotting apple, brett, sugar, spoiled milk, spoiled butter. Rancid, nasty, whatever they used (brett I supposed) worked out horribly. Rotting butter candy body. Awful, yikes.

Bottle, labeled as ’Tumulus Experiment 2015’ . I do feel incomplete by the absence of any additional info on the label... what is the experiment about ? a weird new ingredient ? a prototype? A new hop ? I am left in the dark here... Pours unclear amber. small white head collides immediately. Smell is bitter, green apples, sharp, almost slightly sour, even, Taste is very weird as well. Loads of green apple, even some funk, not really sour but some brett-aspects do arise. To the dry side. Ok mf and carbo. Brett builds up and becomes very recognizable the more you drink. Waaw. that was unexpected ! Wish I had another one, to see how this ages !

Bottle @ home. Slightly unclear copper-golden color, medium sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while and leaves fair lacing. Smell and taste both remind me of a beer-cider mix I once tasted. It reminds me of yeast, apples, grapes, lightly malts. Medium body and carbonation. A bit strange but I don’t dislike it.
