A strong ale, but by no means overbearing and there’s a pleasant harsh sweetness running through its taste. Deep copper-orange in colour, no head.

Bottle from Tesco Formby [060312]
Dark amber reddish brown, clear, frothy slight off white head, good colour, not much lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, some raisin, touch of spicy lager hops, dark fruits, very fruity malty nose, slight metallic note
Taste of dark fruits, raisin, some tangy dark fruits, red berries, sweet light fruit malt, bit metallic, touch of cereal. The cereal metallic notes spoil this beer.
Palate - medium carb and body, oily texture, sweet palate. Finish as main flavour, linger of fruity malts with those cereal metallic notes
Overall - Drinkable, was quite pleasant initially but that cereal metallic note spoiled the beer a bit for me.

Dark brown colour with a beige head. Sweet malty and some fruity notes in the aroma. Toffee and plum flavour. Not to sweet and a nice thick texture.

Medium offwhite head. Clear brown body. Fruity resiny raisiny aroma with mealy honey notes. Dry-sweet honey and roasty malts taste with earthy toffee notes. Mid-bodied. Soft, mild, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish earthy resiny oranges aftertaste with fruity notes. Lovely, drinkable, different. (0.1l from bottle, DBF’11.)

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 8.0%. Now, an ENGLISH doppelbock, that’s not something I see every day! Medium brown colour, not as dark as i expected (the bottle was very dark). Medium sized off-white head. Distinctly malty aroma with loads of caramel, also notes of brown bread and pastry, hints of dark dried fruits. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel, relatively light bodied for an 8% doppelbock. The flavour is malty with caramel again, sweet, but not TOO sweet. There is also a nice fruitiness that helps making the beer very drinkable. Moderate hops in the finish. Maybe not the greatest doppelbock in the world, but definitely a beer I’d buy again.
