On tap at the brewpub. Dunkel rötlich braune Farbe, mittelgroße beige schaumkrone. Geruch sehr mild röstmalzig, karamellig, süß. Geschmack mild röstmalzig, karamellig, leicht nussig, etwas wässrig im Abgang.

0.25 l on tap at the brewpub. Hazy, dark brown with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Faint, sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of chocolate, nuts some coffee. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of milk chocolate, coffee, toasted nuts and a touch of coconut, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little roasty finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Inoffensive, pleasant and easily drinkable.

Tap at the brewpub. Cloudy, dark brown colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, identical taste. Unspectacular.

Wir haben es "gegen" das ’Gladebecker Dunkel’ aus Gladbeck vom selben Brauhausbetreiber getestet - und das Ergebnis war für das Wuppertaler Dunkel enttäuschend. Schon lange nicht mehr so ein schlechtes Bier getestet!! Im Glas liegt es hellbraun-trüb, Geruch ist so gut wie nicht vorhanden. Insgesamt ist es ziemlich trocken-säuerlich. Theoretisch hätte ich gesagt, dass es umgeschlagen sei - meine Flasche jedoch kam aus dem Kühlhaus und war noch drei Wochen haltbar..... Es ist leicht herb-malzig, aber total komisch-plörrig. Kaum zu trinken. Der Nachgeschmack verfliegt ziemlich schnell. Sonst ist da so gut wie gar nichts zu schmecken. Hab’ es zwar schon ein paar mal im Brauhaus selber getrunken, aber schon da war es nie wirklich überzeugend...

Tap at Wuppertaler Brauhaus, 28/04/13. Murky mahogony brown with a thin beige head. Nose is on the thin side, dark malt, toffee, hints of dark fruit. Taste comprises dark toffee, sugars, malt, nutty tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dryish finish. Drinkable but on the bland side.

Light brown body. Aroma is hard to find but I sense some sweet burnt malt. Flavor is little hopy and burnt sugar.

Weich herbmalziger Antrunk mit geringfügiger Abschwächung im Mittelteil. Interessant wird es erst wieder zum Ende, wenn das Malz intensiver wird. Hier unterstützt die Süße etwas zu stark und auch getreidige Noten kommen zum Vorschein, das Malz steht aber im Mittelpunkt – wenn auch nur kurzfristig, denn wirklich lange ist der Nachgeschmack nicht.
