In order to establish this mead we have combined the traditional brew with dried hibiscus. In addition to the color this spice adds an aromatic and floral aftertaste to this mead, like a good madeira.

bottle - Pours deep golden. It has a heavy honey aroma with fairly mild alcohol smell given the abv. The flavor is very sweet, masking most of the alcohol, and is backed by some mild floral and spice notes. Mild hops comes through in the finish. I really enjoyed this one.

Drank out of a Viking horn in Plan B :) Very flowery aroma, sweet honey. Taste of flowers, honey, spicy. Only bit alcoholic. Good mead.

First rating70 cl bottle bought in Copenhagen. Tried on August 27, 2006. Clear amber to golden color (of course no head and no CO2). Sweet honey and spice of some sort scent, also of alcohol. Indeed a very sweet smell. Behind it all some sorts of citrus fruit scent, perhaps the spice "crushed peels of Seville orange" is used? Very smooth mouth feel, sweet but also a bit spicy taste. A bit oily feeling. (No bitterness of course...) I really like this one, but I guess I don’t judge it after the same scale as I usually rate beer.9/4/8/4/16=4.1RerateBottle at mead tasting on November 2, 2012.Thanks to Nisse666!Clear copper color, very small bubbly head. Sweet, alcohol, resin scent. Dandelion, alcohol, raissin, resin taste. Warming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, sweet finish.8/3/8/4/16=3.9

Bottled. Clear amber. Aroma of honey, herbal spices and alcohol. Very sweet, and the smooth warming qualities of Vikingernes Mjød is replaced by burning alcohol and intense sweetness. In the end it tastes more like vodka diluted with honey than anything else. I’m not very impressed, even though some of the herbal notes are really nice .

Amber color. Aroma of perfume, alcohol, herbs. Sweet and very warming, harmonious flavors; in the end it’s almost burning. Good.

(Ceramic bottle 75 cl) Clear, very dark amber. Dark, vinous notes - not unlike port. Distinct sweetness, but the honey notes are not as strong as in other meads. Extremely complex and refined flavour pattern with impressions of dried or even overripe fruit. Lovely warming alcohol. 170605

The aroma is very sweet with strong notes of flowers, but also alcohol and honey. The color is orange and it has no head. The flavor is quite sweet, but not too much, and it has strong notes of honey but also flowers noticably elderberryflowers. The alcohol runs warming and tickling over the tongue.
