(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 31 May 2025) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of plums, chocolate and dark fruit. Malty, roasty, fruity taste with plums, prunes, dark fruit, chocolate, bread and a mild roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Smooth and tasty, with a fresh fruit character. Nice one.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 1st June 2025 on a session with Svesse. Rated as a novelty ale.Dark brown with dullish white foam and full lacing. Fruity plum aroma. Rich sweet, and just pre-ripe, fresh damson plums in-mouth, before an intense damson finish. Crisp mouthfeel and a medium body. Quite unexpectedly enjoyable.

16/6/2022. Cask at the 30th East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear dark ruby brown with minimal head. Aroma is damson, plummy, earthy, malt, light roasting. Moderate sweetness, quite heavy bitterness, touch of sour. Moderate body, oily and watery, soft to flat carbonation. Okay but lacked some body and life.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford (not listed in RateBeer) Pours a dark ruby brown with minimal head. A vaguely plumy nose turns to a sweet blend of dark fruits in the mouth, cherries, raisins and “dandelion & burdock”. The finish ? Well on the tongue it’s cherries, on the roof of the mouth it’s roasted malts. Who to believe ? Very drinkable, but not very memorable.

A really nice porter. Quite bitter up front, a dry fruity hit up front which then sweetens a bit as you go on. Not special but very nice.
