On tap at Pizza Port Imperial Beach, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of earthy hops, dankness and pine, and some diacetyl. Flavour has some issues with diacetyl, but that sort of blends in to the herbal, pot-like hops, and dry biscuity malt. Extremely bitter and seemingly buttery on the finish. Something seems suboptimal about this apparently classic beer.

Draught @ Pizza Port Carlsbad, Carlsbad, CA
Pours orange with a smooth foamy head. Aroma of grassy hops, pine, resin and caramel. Taste is smooth, hoppy and resinous with some grass and pine. Finish is lingering bitter, smooth and sweetish with some caramel, grass, pine and resin. Heavy.

Draught (nitro) @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad as "Poor Vato". Aroma has sweet resiny malt and tropical fruits. Flavour has strong hoppiness, menthol and grapefruit. Too much menthol here.

Pours clear amber with a nice white top that stays. Aroma is fruity but some rougher hops are also there. Earthy and down-to-earth IPA. Taste is very strong and powerful, hope overdose in a second, lots of very bitter stuff, rough and probably intentionally unbalanced. Reminds me mud, autumn and some frozen apples swinging on a tree. I forgot to mention - its also pretty good!

On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Explosion if tropical fruit and citrus with a moderate woody aspect. Slight hazy dark orange with full white head. Taste is strong citrus, orange with forest floor and pine. Bread and slight caramel in moderate amounts balance the beer well. Wonderful.

Keg at Pizza Port Carlsbad, 21/04/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white swirl which emulates a map of Africa. Nose is bitter grapefruit, citric pithdom, straw, lemon rind, hops, pine. Taste comprises sharp grapefruit, mineral bite, pine resin, orange pith, straw, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Decent approachable DIPA, the 10% doesn’t really make its presence known!
