On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Hazy golden body with a huge, creamy, off-white head and great lacing. Aroma is all citrus hops... Taste is orange and tangerine hops with a light caramel malt backbone. No where near Hop Suey... Syrupy mouthfeel, light bubbles.

Dratt at San Clemente. A hazy light golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of grass and hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of grass as well as lighter notes of pine needles, leading to a dry bitter finish where notes of both grass and grapefruit lingers.

On tap At O’Brien’s in San Diego on 08/01/2008 on the RBSG Friday Pub Crawl. Clear golden body with a small white head. Sweet citrus and resiny hop aroma. Fresh hop flavor, more citrus and floral hints.

From tap at San Clemente. Pours golden orange, clear, and with a lacing white head. Light peach fruity hops aroma. Flavour is solid grapefruit and pineneedle hops flavoured. A slight bit too much with a too vague malt presence to counterbalance this.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. LIghter than expected citrus/pine aroma. Great citrus/pine/summer fruit flavor with good bitterness. Medium body. Lingering citrus/pine bitterness.

Golden-bronze. Pear and orange nose with some wood. Pretty amarilloey with quite a bit of sweetness, notes of brown sugar, dalandan soda, that sort of thing.

Draught Good, light-yellow head over beautiful old-golden beer. Hops, C-hops, US hops - do I need to elaborate? Yes, because there’s an aroma of FRESH celeri sticks. Bitter, fully dominated by the US hops, and little else. Maybe some caramel malts. Medium bodied, ending a bit harsh. Good IIPA, in the style of the name: workmanlike performance.

Softly hazed, rather pale-golden IPA, good to see that, with a frothy white head that recedes to cover and leaves moderate lacing.
Hop spiciness lies underneath a strong white grapefruit and dry pine nose, with pale malts asserting light balance at best, though not sweetening things too much so. Very zesty, moderately bitter and robust, despite the fact that the malts are not surging forth and the hops are very dry. Citrus and various yellow fruit notes linger on the finish. Medium high strength of aroma and quite sniffable, but a good deal of bitterness is sensed on the end and it slightly overwhelms with bitterness, cutting down on the complexity/depth of the nose.
Citrus and pine cut straight for the palate, burning somewhat, with a rather large acidity. Malts provide ample texture and never get in the way, while the carbonation is tight and the consistency nearly creamy. Lychee, hickory nut skin, pear and peach notes and a grand finale of very zesty white grapefruit and strong leafiness, all assert that this beer is hops, hops and more hops. That’s fine, but I question the balance/drinkability of these such beers, as always. Way too much bitterness to be truly enjoyable, in my opinion. If they’d tone that down, it would be outstanding on account of its firm texture and high level of dryness. No alcohol/flaws noted.

Hand bottled, thanks cquiroga! Clear golden. Concentrated hop aroma of sweaty lychees. Sweet with some solid biscuit malt underneath an abundance of perfumy aromatic soapy lychee-like hops. Lingering very bitter finish. The hops are almost assaulting, but in a pleasant way. After some initial hesitation I give in and just love this beer.
