A blend of seven different barrel-aged beers. Dark chocolate, molasses, dried fruit, licorice, and cherry complimented the vanilla and coconut from the oak, and caramel and roasted malts.

Sampled from the bottle at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured a near black with a dark brown chocolate like head. Aroma was complex with dark grains, sweet chocolate, vanilla and dark fruits. The flavor was complex as well and began sweet with vanilla and caramel notes, perhaps some coconut. It finished with dark grains and dark fruits.

Birthday beer #2. Bottle, home. Why you gotta be so good, Firestone Walker 13? If I spill this beer, I’m going to lick it off the floor. It’s big, luxurious and delicious. It reminds me of Port’s Older Viscosity, one of my favorite beers, for its velvety feel and lush, barrel-aged pleasure. It pours black with a small dissipating head. The aroma is brandy, rich malt, cocoa, vanilla bean, espresso and brown sugar. The flavor is relatively sweet, but it works very well with the flavor. There’s a lot of oak and wood throughout the beer. It’s just a really nice blend. This is a treat and a nice slow sipper. Great beer.

Brown beer. Bourbon-vanilla aroma. More bourbon in the flavor. It comes right up to that line where the bourbon starts to take over, but it doesn’t quite do it. Moderately hopped, and the oak aging is immediately evident. The bourbon flavor isn’t my thing, but this is a well made, high quality beer.

Big thanks to tpd975, I didn’t think I was going to get to try this one. Thanks Greg! Pours deep mahogany with ruby hues and tan head. The aroma is full with roast, nuttiness, molasses, caramel, a touch of dark fruitiness, some oak, spice and alcohol heat at the end of the draw. The taste begins smooth and near velvety with molasses, maple, brown sugar, spicy oak, sugary raisins, slick sweet malts, plums, some bourbon booze and alcohol warmth at the end. This fresh it is a bit better than 12 and way better than 10 was fresh. 11 ROCKED it though!

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an opaque dark brown with a tint of red and a smallish beige head. Rich Bourbon aroma combined with loads of sweet licorice allsorts. Sweet and rich in body, lots of vanilla and oak, licorice allsorts with a warming alcoholic finish. Amazing. 030110
