A beer that’s as Original today as it was in 1807, when Daniel Thwaites himself began brewing. A clean dry tasting and refreshing session bitter with a glowing amber appearance. Brewed using premium grade Maris Otter malt and a blend of traditional English Hops including Goldings and Fuggles to give a malty flavoured beer with a delicate dry finish.

Absolutely had this before, but must have been pre-untappd. Malty, smooth slight bitterness. Ok.

Brown beer with a small, frothy white head and a somewhat malty aroma, with just a hint of fruit. Light bodied, on the bland side with some fruit malt, toffee sweetness and hop bitterness going on, but all a bit messy.

Light brown colour with lasting creamy head. Unfortunately it's very bland. Watery mouthfeel, very light malt. So many better beers in this category.

Cask @ Crown Inn, Pooley Bridge. Clear dark orange sporting a decent white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, malts and toffee. Taste follows aroma plus some biscuits. Low bitterness. Low carbonation. Nice.

Cask pour at The Highlands. Dark amber, small creamy head. Looks appealing. Light malty aroma, taste too is mild. Smooth as silk, but generally unexciting. Not as bad as some if the ratings, just kind of bland.

50cl bottle from B&M, Reading. An amber pour with a loose white head; stewed malt aroma; sweet malty taste with some caramel and a thin nettley bitterness; and a twiggy bitter finish. Rather sweet and innocuous.
