When Daniel Thwaites was embarking on his brewing career, the INDUS would have been voyaging to the East Indies – trading Lancashire cotton for exotic Eastern delights. Our INDUS Pale Ale celebrates ales of that period with a refreshing brew enriched with abundant hops for flavour that stays fresh and crisp to the finish.

Refreshing amber ale, brewed with four hop varieties for superb taste and aroma.

Nose is some hop sack, sweet malts, slight hint of white peach. Taste is classic English hops, light bitterness, slight citrus. There is a slight medicine finish which fades quickly. It’s a very ordinary beer. I can’t recall it as soon as it’s left my pallet.

0.5l bottle. This is a crystal clear golden one with a small quickly sidesticking and light lacing white top. Low aroma, some light burned and floral caramel with traces of soap and something slightly herbal. Mild and non-extreme. The taste is also mild, blend and definitely English styled. More of a bitter if you ask me with soft traces of caramel and un-ripe zest. It has a decent bitterness, but it's kinda boring-bitter. Dare I say British-bitter? All in all, drinkable with some flavor, but dull and I would definitely not call this to invigorating. 19.01.2013

Flaske fra ICA: Nydelig gylden farge med stort skum som varer. Tydelig aroma med humler (4 ulike flg etiketten) og karamellmalt. Deilig, velbalansert smak. En super butikk-ipa. Denne skal jeg ha felere av!

500 ml. bottle, 3.8.2012. Clear, dark orange colour with a small, white head. Aroma is spicy, with grassy hops. Taste has a crisp hops bitterness. Light to medium body with a thinner texture, lively carbonated. Finishes with spicy hops with some grasses. I like this beer!

500ml Bottle best before 09 May 2012: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 26 July 2012, so out of date when reviewed! Looks a healthy amber colour with a full lasting head of off-white bubbles. Hops in the nose and taste but strangely it also has a noticeable malt content in both too. Hops first with semi-sweet malty molasses second. Highly carbonated and almost ’fizzy’ in fact. Nice balance to the brew if you like your hops, over hopped if you don’t. I enjoyed this bottle even though I prefer malter brews: this is easy to drink and refreshing after a warm working day (like today).

Bottle. Pours caramel golden, with a small head. Aroma is spicy hops and caramel. Flavour is quite bitter with hops, spice, caramel and some light notes of honey. Nice zesty bitter finish.

Biggish offwhite head. Clear amber body with light carbonation. Light fruity peppery aroma with caramelly notes. Dry dusty pineapple taste with mealy papery notes. Mid-bodied. Dusty, empty mouthfeel. Dry fruity dusty peppery aftertaste with strawberry notes. It’s OK, but not really a success. Something off with the emptiness of the flavour. Grew on me as I drank, though, and eventually I quite enjoyed it. (0.5l bottle, ICA Gourmet, Oslo.)
