Name changed from Thoroughbred to Thoroughbred Gold in 2007.

Brewed in celebration of Thwaites’ award-winning Shire Horses, Thoroughbred is a light, almost golden beer with a delicate combination of Maris Otter and Pearl malts and a distinctive hoppy aroma derived from the blend of Fuggles and Goldings hops. A quaffing beer if ever there was one!

Bottle, picked up from Majestic in a mixed pack 20-05-07. Diff’ label, the label quite clearly calls this Thwaites Thoroughbred Gold, but the description, strength and ingredients appear to have been unchanged. Poured a warm golden colour with a bubbly white head, this beer has some hops and sweet malts in the aroma, tastes very good great bitterness finishing a tad dry.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, dark amber with a small, off-white head. Nutty aroma. Medium-bodied with sweetish, malty notes and a whiff of nuts. Discreetly hoppy finish. 150906
