Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 4. Pours clear, rich amber with a small, white head. Heavy malt and caramel nose, with dense citrus hops. Big sweet flavor, sugar notes, toast, light booze. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, lots of sugar, resinous and oily hops, mild pine and citrus. Really good beer. An enjoyment.

Cask@GBBF2011. Golden amber colour with a small head. Aroma is fruits, some bready malts, mild sweet malts as well as some grassy notes. Flavour is quite much the same with also a bunch of toffeeish notes.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, split with Matts_Property, pours hazy dark golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of resinous hops, floral notes, light grapefruit (and maybe other fruits), backed by a big caramel malt backbone. Flavour brings out some candied sugar to begin with, heaps of caramel, tropical fruits, ending with pungent resinous hops. Great layers and depth in this IIPA, though maybe a little boozy on the finish. Excellent.

12oz bottle-thanks decaturstevo for sharing-pours a dissipating light tan head and hazy amber color. Aroma is resin/perfumy, dark fruit, sweet medium malt-caramel. Tase is resin/perfumy/spice hops bite, dark fruit, sweet medium malt-caramel. Slightly syrup/thick mouth feel. BW-ish.

bottle - Pours amber-orange with a lingering off-white head. The aroma is full of citrus and floral hop notes. It has a big, hoppy flavor that’s smoothed out by an equally big addition of malty sweetness. There are citrus tones and some alcohol presence, which isn’t surprising at 10.6%. It’s full bodied with a long, bitter, somewhat alcoholic finish. Good brew.

Bottle at Chriso’ Blue Mountains of Virginia tasting. Copper colour, clear. Thin beige head. Lovely big piney hop aroma. Rather toasty, some good hop. Bit of cheesy big hop. Good though without a wow factor.

22nd May 2010.
ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! (Early hours of the morning rating). Clear amber beer. Light crisp palate with an alcoholic snap to it. Sweetish malt base on which sweet piney hops come to the fore. Finishes dry and with more sweet hops. Nice! Original rating 3.7

GBBF. Cask. Hazy deep amber beer. Residual off white head. Amazing nose of intense marmalade, orange liquer and tangy fruit. Light palate, semi dry. Taste follows the nose to a degree. Caramel malt base. Trace of red friuts. There is an overall sweetness to the beer despite the hop attack. Finishes semi dry with mild aniseed aftertaste. Very tasty!
