Complex stout, unusual for the style, it is brewed with a high proportion of wheat as well as malted barley.

Aroma: Treacle, raisin and cream. Reminds me of a liqueur.

Appearance: Very dark brown body with a thick beige head. Good lacing.

Taste: Caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Tangy, almost sour, plum finish. Nice.

Palate: Medium body with an oily texture. Light carbonation.

Overall: Complex flavours beautifully balanced. One of the most interesting stouts I’ve tasted.

Cask at the Waggon and Horses, Halesowen. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is banana and coffee. Taste has banana and roast to start. Clovey yeast and roast in the finish. Different stout.

cask in cloisters ... deep dark brown black ... creamy tan head ...sweet toffee malt nutty nose ... soft toffee malts ... odd toffee roast ... lightest smoke ... dark fruits ... light treacle ... interesting ... odd and not unplesant ... but little too wierd ... little medicinal

Cask (gravity) @ The 16th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2010, Reading, Berkshire England.Clear dark red and black brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, light acidic - tart. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100430]
