Poured from the tap. Clear-ish chestnut brown with small beige head. Toasted nuts, more brown ale than porter, decent.

Can. Dark brown pour with a big sudsy khaki colored head that has good retention. The aroma is roasted grains, a bit of mocha and a trace of raisin. The taste is roasted grains, coffee, and dates. The palate is a bit on the thin side with soft carbonation. Finishes short and dry. Overall: decent everyday porter. Paired well with some Manchego cheese.

12 oz can at Capitol Reef Resort in Torrey, UT. Pitch black pour with a tight tan head and very good retention. Decent lacing. Aroma of roasted nuts. Dark roasted nutty flavor too, with a little dark chocolate mixed in the finish. Clean and smooth. Medium+ body. Some bitterness in the dark chocolate. Better than the nitro version.

From Dec 2006

Poured from 12oz bottle(room temp) a dark brown with reddish hues and a large billowy head of foam that shrank but stayed as a solid layer for the entire session.

The smell is on the light side but I can sense some chocolate and some roasted malt.

The taste is also light. Some chocolate makes its way to my taste buds followed by just a touch of roastiness. That smooths out even more until the finish where I can just taste a bit of bitterness but that disappears quickly leaving very little flavour in the after taste.

Bottom line: A light tasting sample of the style that is just missing a bit of oomph to make it a more drinkable Porter.
