Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a golden amber with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just some hints of malts. In the mouth it is basically sweet, but with a slight underlying bitterness. Flavour has malts and honey with some grains and hints of corn, ginger and spices. After a while you realise it is quite watery though. There is a dry finish. It’s reasonable.

Bottle at home as a Christmas present. A mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is rustic grains, damp hay, bark, apple, little stale grains. Flavour is composed of grain husks, dried fruits, hay, dirty grains,. Little stale. Palate is semi sweet, grainy, moderate carbonation.

A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grain and some biscuits, hops with grass and citrus. Taste has grai, grass, nice bitterness but the citrus is disappeared, not totally dry but still enough. Unfortunately, taste is also slightly musty. Quite light bodied, but far away from watery. Not too refreshning and aromatic.

500ml bottle from Appleyards. Thanks Mike. Pours blonde with a chill haze. with large white head. Very light malt aroma. Taste is familiar Monty’s malt, no discernible hop presence. Really quite a standard grainy biscuity Monty’s brew. Nothing remotely Christmassy about it.

Bottle conditioned 500ml: BBD end of Sep 15. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on my 15th Nov 14 Pre-Christmas Christmas beer tasting evening: this beer was shared with no one. The label asked for the beer not to be put in a fridge: missed that, so this was colder than the brewer wanted when I broached his bottle. No sediment left the bottle, but the golden body had a chill haze because someone had cooled it: white topping. The aroma was hop led, piney and fruity but not citrusy. Not a lot of malt aroma or flavouring but this is not just all about hops, there was a sweetness from somewhere. Pleasant and easy to drink.

Bottle. It pours an almost clear body, golden in color and with a small, white head. The aroma is mostly on the fruity side, with pine cones and a faint grainy touch. It’s lightly chalky on the palate, full to medium bodied. Fruity flavor with a nice fruityness, a good bitterness and some chalky notes. Nice bitterness and flavors of pine cones and resins in the finish. Pretty decent this one, although a tad chalky. 140808

Bottle 500ml @ Geokkjer
Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, chalk and floral. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with a dry, chalky finish. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

07.12.2013, 0,5l bottle @ home:
Small slightly bubbly longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fruity and grainy, light malts, flowers, wet grain, grapefruit, hay. Taste is slightly neutral, light malts, hay, weeds, flowers, wet grain. Medium bitterness. Fair enough, just another boring golden ale.
