(375ml bottle from 4th and 7, Toronto) Pours black with a tight little mocha head. Aroma starts with a brutally strong hit of black olives, salty/umami overload that the dessert pastry vibes can't really compete with. Fortunately 5 minutes of air clears the umami, revealing notes of dark caramel and chocolate blend, sweet and lightly floral vanilla, wafer-like cookie vibes, moderate hazelnut, some roast and earth from the cacao and coffee. Flavour never gets the same umami hits, thankfully; very sweet up front with caramel and toffee candies, wafers for sure, fair bit of vanilla, chocolate chunks, creamy hazelnut coffee, dark roast. Finish dries just a little but becomes much roastier and a bit more bitter, hazelnut with some cream, cacao earth, coffee grounds, still dessert AF though. Touch of booze. Medium-bodied, oily, very softly carbonated. Once the umami overdose got over itself this was pretty solid pastry for Ontario.

375ml (thx, Peter K.!) @ Phill's shared with Ash. Appearance: dark brown with the same color head. Aroma: coffee, chocolate, canned corn (wtf?!). Taste: lots of coffee, chocolate, roasty. Overall: not sure why it's called Ferrero Roche, but it's a pretty good Russian Imperial stout with coffee.
