AleSmith Decadence is a dark Weizenbock featuring malted wheat and a unique German yeast. A complex blend of rich, dark fruit flavors and a yeast derived spiciness create a deliciously balanced beer. Dark ruby hues and smooth full-bodied mouthfeel are highlighted in this classic Bavarian style.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. Pours a dark ruddy copper with a four finger finely bubbled beige/tan head. Aromas of something approaching chocolate banana! With a hint of yeast spice. Full bodied with lush, creamy carbonation. Flavor is dark roast malt with touches of banana and that stringy stuff that sticks to banana. A little chocolate turns up. Maybe something like prune/raisin too. Very tasty stuff.

Very nice. Why are there not more weizenbocks? Banana aroma, and sweet wheat. More of these in the flavor, but a thick wheat beer. No alcohol flavor but lots of brown sugar, some clove, banana. Dark brown, muddy color.

Location: On tap at the Brewery, 1/8/10
Dunkel Weizen Bock

Aroma: It has some spice, orange, brown sugar, banana, chocolate, and bread
Appearance: Poured a dark brown color
Flavor: Taste is complex mix of some nice malty flavors
Palate: Drinks nicely, no ABV burn, long finish
Overall Impression: What wonderful luck that I showed up at Alesmith and they were putting out the keg of Decadence 2009. This stuff was really solid, but I bet the bottles, with a little time in a cellar, would be even better. I couldn't help but think, when I was drinking it from the tap sampling, that it felt a little young. Consider that a mild criticism though, because it is darn good.
