Our annual offering of this strong rich ale is packed full of dark malts and complimented with spicy full fruity hops. A great beer to sit down with and enjoy over the Christmas period.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Clearish auburn pour with no head. Some fruity hops in the nose. Flavor is not too sweet, with weak notes of herbal and leafy hops leading the way. Mild notes of dried fruits. Medium in body with soft carbonation. Quite dry with only subtle sugars to finish, with some dull, earthy bitterness as well. A drinkable but rather uninspiring beer.

Cask Conditioned at Market Porter, London
Hazy dark amber color; thin creamy head. The aroma is simple. The flavor is basically caramel, with some light chocolate, and a yeasty touch, on the dry side; strangely the final is more refreshing than expected. Good.

Bottle, that has been kicking around amongst my beer stash for far too long Pours dark brown slight murkiness to it (careless pouring) Big on maltiness in mouth and on nose, some dried fruits and nuts but little else, nice but Vale can and do, do better beers.
