Notes from October 2009 Longshot sixer. Pint glass pour. The bocks were sealed with the Brewmaster's Collection caps rather then the expected Longshot ones. Excited pour. A couple of plump inches of off-white head. Clear, bold, toasted caramel body, if slightly red. Nearly still. Smell is of soggy raisin bran, some heartier pumpernickel, & a bit of rum. I get a dry itch in my nose. I also get a slight notion of glue/paste on the tail of it that weights it down. Initial hit it big on bran, & burnt toast. Middle has a sharp malt sweetness that turns into a cherry pit sort of acidic bitterness. That lingers along with a good bit of rich, charred raisin loaf & macerated newspaper. Feel is frothy upfront, but soon turns stiff & only moderately enduring. The alcohol is pretty rough for 6.8%, & I'm not digging the sharp/pitty/char finish. It started off decent.

3rd October 2009
Bottle purchased in a Las Vegas liquor store. Clear brown beer. Dry crispish palate turning softer. Marmite malt and not much else other than a trace of bubblegum in the finish.

Pours a clear dark brown with deep ruby highlights and a fluffy off white head that sticks around forever. Smells a bit grainy with some plums and melanoid in there as well. Taste is brown sugar, dark dried fruits, Caramelized sugars, maybe a hint of licorice. The taste is a little sweet. Nice malt taste. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Not a bad bock.

bottle - Pours clear amber with a small off-white head that leaves some lacing. It smells of caramel malt, a little alcohol, and a trace of fruit. The flavor is really sweet with toasted caramel malt. It’s medium bodied and overall an alright brew.
