This is the big, hearty ’red wine’ of our range. Nine malts are blended to produce layers of caramel, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours and these are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to a lingering dry finish. Rich, full bodied. warming and moreish. Stonecutter pairs well with venison, roast beef or lamb, or the heartiest casseroles and stews. For dessert try with a creme brulee or, of course, Scottish shortbread.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a slightly cloudy dark brown with a whispy thin broken white head. The aroma is rich red berry fruit, treacle, toffee, caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a rich fruity yeast hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not a style that inspires me, but this is one of the best I’ve had.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Dark brown color with small head. Aroma and flavor are based on a good dark caramel; there is also a good flavor of malt and an evident nutty character; moderate bitterness, low residual sweetness.
Good.
