A banging imperial stout inspired by the flavours of Italy and brewed with figs, star anise, Sicilian blood oranges and cooked grape must.

Apparently I forgot to rate this before. This amazing ( again, hwo good is Pohjala witht heir dark beers ? ) Imperial Stout pours black, medium tanned head. Smell and taste are rather sweet, the seperate ingrediënts aren't recognizable, but build up a complex and nice beer in a whole. I'm very happy not to taste the star anis !

Bottle, 330 ml from Pivoteka. Shared with JFK10000 and Max. Pours black with tan head. Cocoa, coconut, roasted, chocolate, spicy, some dried fruit, bit artificial, quite sweet. Smooth texture. Full bodied.

Bottle at home, part of my birthday collection I received from my girlfriend! Pours a oily, thick black, with a seriously dark head, with medium retention. Aroma is amazing - so layered and complex, with tons of spices and fruits. Lovely malt profile with loads of chocolate, molasses and some toffee. Figs are especially noticeable in the aroma. Roast aromas are also quite present, even some smoke. Big body with a thick oily mouthfeel. Flavour profile is just as complex and layered as aroma. The dark malts shine, with chocolate and molasses in the foreground. An intense bitterness, partially from the hops, partially from the blood oranges (and maybe the anise?) counterbalances the sweetness of the beer. Figs are also quite dominant, whilst the grapes give this impy a vinous touch which is just lovely. This is basically perfect, I find it hard to criticise anything: the additions make this so intriguing and the best part is they are all very harmonious. Another amazing impy from one of my favourite breweries. Well done.

Brilliant stuff. Ok it is black. No surprise. Beige head that gives up a bit to fast. Dotted lacing. Nice mellow aroma with a pleasant intensity. Ok sniffer. Balanced sweetness and a fine mellow carbonation level. Pleasant to drink. Dangerously easy is more proper. Well masked alcohol. The flavor is unusual fruity for an impy. Gives it a fine dimension. Also typical stuff as chocolate and dark malt. Not to much roast and coffee feeling. Figs….hmmmm nah……ok it is fruity. I do not know how to separate this flavor. Some spiced notes. Probably anis. Well done again from our Estonian friends.

Flaske fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Langnes. Svart. Høyt brunt skum som daler sakte. Aroma av melkesjokolade. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken vanilje & sjokolade. Lett tørr avslutning. Bra - men ble vel søt. Alkoholen veldig godt kamuflert.
