Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours a clear and pretty dark reddish brown with a beige head. Distinctly smoky nose with some roasted malts. Medium body, very sweet roasted malts and a little ashes and smoke. Bitterish finish. Well made. 140310

pours dark brown, off-white head. aroma is loaded with Bamberg style malts, hints of chocolate that seemed for upfront as the beer warmed up. flavor, light roast and smoke, hints of bitter chocolate and toffee. Contrary to the aroma, the chocolate was more present. Finish is similar, chocolate and light smoke. Well crafted and tasty.

750, slightly different label - I love me some smoked beer, so when I saw "bamburg style smoked beer" on the label, I got really excited - pours a deep, dark brown, with a well-retained lace - so far so good - nice beechwood smoke in the aroma, with some toasted malt, caramel, chocolate, some vegetal qualities - okay, not as good as I wanted the nose to be, but there is still hope - full carbonation in the mouth - flavor of burnt malts, sour cherries, leafy/tobacco character, crappy chocolate, smoke, ashy flavor, day-old coffee - ah-ha, here is where it is ruined.

Bouteille 750ml.

Pours deep, clear mahogany into a shaker. Tan head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Light smoke and cured meat aromas. Smooth with upfront slightly sour dried fruits and a slick, lasting smoked licorice finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color lager with a huge medium brown color head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light bitter roasted malt with distinctive notes of smoke. Taste is a mix between some medium smoke malt with some light bitter dry roasted malt note. Full body with good carbonation. I would have enjoyed this with even more smoked notes but very good nonetheless.
