Bottle. Clear amber coppper with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and almonds. Taste of caramel, marzipan, metal and some nuts. Low bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Definitely drinkable but it’s rather anaemic and missing the bite and certain spiciness I want from a Festbier.

0.5l bottle from that one bio store in Garching. Slightly hazy orange-coppery body, off-white head. Grainy, sweetish aroma, bit honeyish. Sweetish, lean taste, grainy, simple, okay, mild cardboard perhaps, but not taking that against it, vaguely floral. Okay, solid, likely good when fresh!

Bottle. Xmas gift of the missus. White and green label now. Hazed pale amber. Very sturdy just off white foam. Looks good. Semi sweet nutty biscuit malt. A little sweaty. Some ripe vine fruit. Taste has a soft nutty sweetness. A little dry and moderately bitter as it goes along. Nice soft foamy mouthfeel. Bitterness sharpens up on the finish. Very nice.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized throthy off white head. Aromas of grains, hay, toasty bread and a touch of caramel and honey. Taste is malty with sweet grains, hay, bread and honey. Light grass and a slight metallic note on the sweet finish. Medium body with fairly low carbonation. Decent middle of the road Marzen.

0.5 l bottle from 'denn's' (Lüdenscheid) as 'Neumarkter Lammsbräu Festbier Winter' at 5.6% abv, best before March 2022. Clear, copper with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly malty, a little grassy aroma of grains, some honey and light straw. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, minimally grassy taste of grains, honey, some straw and light vanilla, followed by a short, gently bitter, a bit grassy, minimally metallic finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Average Festbier, not very interesting, quite tame, other than that well-brewed.
