From Beerman6686 at the Pgh RB gathering 12/09, thanks Dan! First let me say that I am not worthy of this beer. I rate by how much I like it and not to scale so blow off my numbers. Smells like a mild imperial stout. laced with some volatile whiskey. Hot alky burn on the intial taste. Whiskey, commencement, way too much for this lager lover. Anise, locrice, perhaps coffee and other dark rude desirable atttributes. Barely any carbonation. Over the top, just like a big beer should. Oily mouth coating finish, overall pretty strong.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is phenolic, citric and fruity. Roasted malty too. Citric and fruity flavoured. Lingering fruity, phenolic and roasted malt flavoured. Lingering malty note into the finish.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of wood, brettanomyces, roasted malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, soy sauce, malt, and roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces, and a bit of whiskey, leading to a dry woody finish. Thanks a lot MadsBerg for sharing.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of madsberg. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a small brownish head. Amazing Bourbon aroma - never sweet though. Solid body, dry woody accents, nuts and burned caramel with dry and hot bourbon accents. Malt bitter finish. Appears stronger than 9%! 161209

Bottle #322 of 450 from ericandersnavy. No way I can adequately thank you, but I’ll make an effort. Pours opaque black with a three finger dark tan head. Aroma is dark malt, lightlly sour dark fruit, and chocolate. Medium body with frothy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is espresso, chocolate, dark malt, wood, sourish cherry. There is no heat. But my bod says there’s alcohol. Finishes suggestive of chocolate cherry. Bitter dark chocolate. But incredibly smooth. Very pleasing. This is the beer for breakfast.

Bottle shared by coyotehunter. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head and aromas of pie cherries, oak, molasses, cinammon and oranges. Flavor is very close to the nose and is reminiscent is a thin version of Eccentric Ale with some age. Pretty solid alcoholic warmth and a decent sweetness to the finish.

My thanks to Skyview for this. Black. Very little carbonation, as if it could be a British stout. Malt aroma with some bourbon. Flavor has bourbon also, drowning out all complexity and other flavors. Palate is unfortunately thin. A quality beer, but ruin by bourbon.

Bottle number 396/450 via a trade with dchmela. Pours with a deep brown body with a tan head. Aroma of wood, chocolate, alcohol, bourbon, dark fruits, toffee and cocoa powder. Taste is big, boozy and woody with smoke notes, bourbon, a rich vinous quality, cola and a very light vegital note (which I also sometimes get from 110k+OT #2). Thick and viscous mouthfeel. medium carbonation. Very good beer. Aroma is awesome, as is the flavor, although the flavor doesn’t seem as melded together as the aroma.
