12 oz bottle purchased at Sendik’s Fresh2GO near Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The pour is a clear brown, ruby, copper with a half inch tan head that falls quick. The aroma is a rich caramel malt, brown sugar, and herbal yeast. The taste is brown sugar, soft roast, caramel then finishes with the herbal. The palate is medium to heavier bodied with soft carbonation and a clean sweet herbal grass finish. Nice doppelbock.

Aromas are dark malt and roast with hints of molasses, raisins and bread. Flavors are similar to nose, true to style except for maybe a bit thin. Pretty good traditional style beer overall.

12oz bottle. $7.89 a six pack. Don't think you can do much better than that for this level of beer. Deep malt tone, rich caramel, bready. Sweet and rich. Really good.

Refrigerated 12 oz brown bottle from Drake. Medium/darker brown with medium beige head. Aroma is nuts, medium body, lower carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is nuts and cocoa. One of the better dobbelbocks I have had.

New Glarus did a good job with this style that i cannot recall seeing from them in the past. Medium sweet. Malt flavor, a mild toasted grain quality and dry earthiness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Gyrator Doppel on 01 Oct 2021 at 15:35 - Score: 7

Bottle. Pours clear hazel, medium beige head, good lacing. Aroma is rich and malty, cocoa, toffee, dark bread. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, rich dark malts. Merlin body, pillowy mouthfeel. A malt extravaganza.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman's Oak Creek, 9/18/21. Clear bronze, medium creamy tan head, good retention. Looks nice. Aroma of toffee, raisin, cherry, some toast. Taste is anise, toffee, cherry, plum. Slick, medium-full bodied. Well balanced with some mild bitterness. Nice beer. Glad I got a half case.
