It pours a dark amber and gives more of a dark black to brown body. An inch of white foamy head appears and dies to a half centimeter while leaving some nice speckled lacing coating the upper part of the pint glass. The smell has caramel and fruit up front with a bit of nuts in the background. The taste is the same adding a bit of breadiness to it. The mouthfeel is light to medium with a dry finish. This is a very drinkable beer. Overall, this is a solid beer for its style, but just mediocre to me.

Bottle. Clear reddish brown color with a big beige head. Malty aroma with rye, caramel, biscuits, toasted bread, some graininess and light fruity notes.. Sweet malty flavor, caramelly and toasty, with rye spiciness, a faint fruity hint and a somewhat bitter finish with some minerally/earthy/metallic notes. Medium-bodied. Not my thing.

Dark mahogany color with creamy head. Light roasted malt aroma, roasted nuts. Some flavor of roasted malts, caramel, earth; correct bitterness.

12 ounce bottle. Bright dark amber color with a medium-sized beige head. Assertive bready malt nose hints at nutty and spicy. Tart toasted malt flavor with a biting crisp dry grainy character. Finish is bitter with herbal hops.

A rather indistinct little ale - nothing off-putting, just not very exciting...lacking depth - nose is a little bit of dark bread and raisin - flavor is somewhat bready, with moderately spicy rye - finish is lightly bitter, but with a bit of toffee behind it - not much happening, but okay.

Bottle @ home. Pours a dark orange/brown appearance with a nice brown head and good lacing. Fairly spicy rye, caramel, light chocolate, toffee, a bit herbal aroma. Kind of chewy rye malty, bready, moderately spicy, allspice, caramel flavor. Not bad.

Clear brown beer, modest white head. Crisp palate, semi dry. Malty beer, slightly creamy but with a vague hint of smoke. Finishes softer but still dry. Fresh malty beer. Okay.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark brown with about a half finger of off-white head. Aroma of toffee and caramel. Taste is light sweet. Caramel and bready malt. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I’d drink it again.
