Bottle bought from the forin devil keg bar at GBBF 25. Black. Just Black. Not particularly glossy or inky or anything like that. Thick foamy beige head. Aroma has liqourice and tar (Finnish candy* stylee). Although the Cottage Pie induced smells I am omitting is not doing me any olfactory favours. Having fanned, I am also getting mocha, seasonal spice and berries. Flavourwise we again have tar infused liqourice with espresso and a berry streak. Although the edge is bitter more than sour. Underlying salted caramel and the berries also have a touch of sweetness. Medium-heavy bodied. Oily. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Punchy Stout, telling 0.5 points short of being an Impy. I like this brewery a lot.

Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy black, small, beige head. Aroma of chestnut, rye bread, mocha, milk chocolate, shoe polish, burnt caramel. Taste has sweetish apple & fig in a nutty, milk-chocolatey, brown-bready malt body with a bitter mocha note. Earthy hoppy finish offering bitter rye, nuts, wood, something medicinal. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Unusual Stout combined with Brown Ale characteristics, which works well.

A bit muddy. Not super clean. More of a double brown as stated, not a stout. Bittered american-wise. Butchers tears ams. Tried again and concure.

Bottle. Color: Almost black, thin beige head. Aroma: Mocha, coffee, fruity, roasted malt. Taste: Quite dense and smooth, bit creamy mouthfeel, roasted malt, coffee, some dark chocolate and fruity notes of dark fruit. Pretty fruity for a Stout. Nice medium bitterness, light to moderate sweet. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Very nice.

Tap at the brewery. Black with huge fluffy tan head. Deep roast, very earthy, dead leaves. Then some sweet chocolate, coffee, toffee, blackberries and blueberries. Over medium sweet and bitter. Full bodied. Quite nice, but it smells slightly like cow dung.

From tap @Het Lagerhuys, Amsterdam, poured into a snifter. Pitch black, small frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, peat. Taste roasted malt, chocolate , some licorice, earthy notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, lingering roasty sweetbitter aftertaste, coffee groundings, very earthy feel, to be honest too much.
