Tasting glass @ Helst. Black, little tanned head. Nose is lots of liquorice, massively umami, soy sauce,… Taste is plastic, black liquorice, herbal, plastic, soy sauce,.. Thick liquorice body, not fully my thing but interesting & well done for what it appears to be, some odd BE / NL styled dark beer.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear deep brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, but quite earthy and with a fsir amount of bitterness. Touch of bitter coffee. Whisper of dark chocolate. Dry spicy bitter finish. Flavoursome but quite harsh.

33cl Bottle from Sterk. Black colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of lots roast, liquorice, ash, laurel, dark chocolate, hint of berries. Flavour is quite bitter at first, lots of roast, a bit of sludge, dark chocolate, some blue/blackberries without the sourness, some laurel and liquorice (drop), pralines, firm bitter finish. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Very tasty.

33cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Pours almost black. Rather stiff mocha-colored head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma’s of roasted malts, yeast, mocha, a bit herbal. More or less the same retronasal. The herbal part is like there moss or something,a bit weird. Flavor is light sweet, hard roasted, coffee-ish, moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes with hard roasted malts, ground coffee, rather bitter. Apart from the mossy part, pretty good!

Black with thin dark creamy head. Aroma is unpleasantly minty. Flavour is nice though with toffee and treacle and burnt malt. Really a strong bittersweet finish. Lots of chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste.
