Draught @ CBC2013. Pours clear golden with a small golden head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is malty and boozy with caramel, alcohol, cereal, oatmeal cookies, lemon zest, orange zest, wood, apples, butterscotch, sweet dark bread and hints of acetone. Taste is very sweet with sweet dark bread, caramel, toffee, oatmeal cookies, alcohol, wood, glue, lemon zest and hints of butterscotch. Mouthfeel is cloying, sticky sweet, boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with caramel, toffee, sweet dark bread, lemon zest, alcohol, glue and hints of butterscotch. Not to my liking at all.

(Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 11 July 2013) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with red fruit, blood orange, grapefruit and massive amounts of resinous, citric hops. A touch of alcohol shining through as well. Malty, fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, blood orange, resin, caramel and a powerful finish with a solid resinous, piney bitterness and a warming glow of alcohol. Full body, quite chewy, fairly sweet. The solid, sweetish malt character fairly well balances the impressive hop presence. Very nice.

Tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Session III. Pours clear copper with a fine, creamy white head. Ripe, juicy citrus in the nose, sweet bready malts. Big sweet flavor with dry citrus rind, leaves, pine, grass, orange, caramel and bread. Full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish with sticky sugars, marmalade, orange, grass, pine. Rich. A touch too bitter. Very decent.

CBC. Hazy amber beer, little pale tan head. Quite a light palate, crisp and dry. Thin and sweet malts. Good skunky hops with bitter pine. Finishes dry with the malt getting even sweeter and the pine hops becoming spicy. Full on!

On tap at CBC, pours a hazy orange amber with a small beige head. Nose is very hoppy, with loads of fruity citrus hops, stone fruits, and a bit of caramel. Flavour is super complex, full of loads of resinous hops, a big stone fruit component and treacly toffee. Amazing integration of all the different components. The hops provide a great balance to the big malt backbones. Finishes very hoppy and sticky. Amazing barley wine.
