Bottle at the little beer and charcouterie cafe in Hunawihr. The place didn't have a name and was pretty much like someone's house. Appearance - cloudy brown and with a generous head. Nose - toffee, nuts and burnt bread. Taste - more of the toffee and bread. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Could be a touch fresher on the finish. Overall - decent.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Dagan. As "L’Alsacienne Biere Du Gambrinus Brune". Brown-colored with a beige head. Aroma of lots of licorice and a bit of malt. Licorice flavor with a bit of caramelly malt and fruity notes. Light to medium-bodied. I hate licorice.

Hazy dark amber color. The aroma shows some fruity malt, perfumy too, apples. There is a quite good caramel flavor, sweetish, with light fruitness and vegetables. Not complex but appreciated Belgian beer.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma has notes of sulphur, yeast, malt, and some caramel. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, and some phenols, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear arm amber with a gigantic and frothy beige head leaving laces. Aroma of dried fruits, burned caramel and some yeast. Medium body, sweet dried fruits with quite some oxidization. Licorice notes also. Hardly any bitterness. 301109
