Bottled. Deep red brown colour. A creamy head that lasts - for a while. A dry taste of roasted malt. Neighter a good porter nor any Christmas feeling. Leaves a sourish, dry aftertaste.

Tan, creamy head with lots of larger bubbles; deep dark red body, almost like red wine. Malty, bready aroma with some light burnt, coffeeish notes, some licorice, hops also faintly noticeable, but can’t tell what kind. Very harmonic aroma. Taste is very like the aroma, round and slightly watery. In the aftertaste the burntness becomes much more pronounced. Aftertaste also slightly dry, with a peppery feel to it. There is hops here, but hard to detect. Very harmonic. Overall, an excellent traditional Norwegian Christmas beer, but a little bit too weak. Had it been more assertive this would have been a real winner for this style.

Bottled. Unfortunately in a clear bottle. Thats probably due to Berentsens future as a soda producer, with beer only added the last year. Dark brown beer with a decent tan head. Roasted aroma. Something in the aroma reminds me of a room that people has been smoking in for years, but not in an unpleasant way. Coffee, chocolate and hop bitterness in flavor. Medium body with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Berentsens second attempt for a non-lager beer, and hopefully not their last. (051124)

330 ml clear bottle. Berentsens surprise us again - they have made a slightly mellower version of a porter as their "klasse F" (Vinmonopolet) Yule/Christmas beer. Dark brown colour, nice and creamy tan head. Very nice roasty aroma with notes of oak, leather, dark bread and coffee. Flavour is moderately roasty and well rounded, elements of coffee, dark chocolate and oak. Tolerable hops. Could use a little more "bite", but this is definitely not a bad beer!
