December brings the last of our seasonal beers - biscuity and bitter with a long finish.

A colour of dark copper leads to a nose that is hoppy and spicy, a balanced palate and a long, hoppy finish.

There are both crystal and chocolate malts in this tawny beer - it’s full bodied with a delighful hop character from Challenger and Styrian Goldings.

33cl bottle from Wine Rack, Ascot. Looking at some of the recent reviews it seems that the UK and export versions of this beer are very different - according to my bottle "This copper coloured beer is brewed with pale and crystal malts with a touch of roast barley. The hop additions are Challenger for bitterness and Stryian for its floral citrus aroma. A balanced and very moreish beer."

Anyway, mine pours a very unattractive hazy amber colour with a ring of white head; the aroma has orangey citrus notes, but is also slightly musty; there’s an orangey taste as well, with some rather flabby hops providing moderate bitterness and a spicy edge to the finish.

Overall this is a rather mediocre offering - makes me wonder what the export version with chocolate malt is like.

A dark brown beer with a weak and blond head. Aroma is malty, also some roastiness, caramell and citrusfruits. Dark roastiness, wooden hoppyness and some lemon in the taste, overally pleasant and not very dry taste. Light to drink, but still nice. Good bitter with enough of freshness.

Bottle from Asahiya. Chocolate, toffee, kaluha nose. Some spice, alcohol fumes, strangely. Lots of raisins, too. Very dark brown with orange tints and lace. Roasty chocolate and caramel flavor, raisins and dried fruit, nice bitter finish. Approaching a stout, but a bitter. Interesting and flavorful. Nice fuoll body, too. Good stuff.

Flaske 0,33l.

Pours amber with a small, quickly fading head.Nose shows citrus hops, cookie dough-like malt and caramel.Similar flavours, some soft sweetness and caramel before the citrus hops return for an assertive bitterness.Could use more carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a light amber, with a moderate head. Hoppy bitter aroma, with citrus, cereal and some slight notes of yeast. Taste is roasted malts with a marked bitterness of citrus, and a nice dry, crisp finish leaving some grapefruit for the aftertaste.

330ml bottle shared with Finn. Clear copper coloured body under a diminishing white head. Mild citric aroma with a spicy touch. Dry citric hops in flavour along with mid-sweet grainy malts. Lightly spiced. Fairly short bitter end. Clean and soft in the mouth. Thin to medium bodied. Ok without providing anything special (Tromsø, 14.04.2011).
