Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, metal, and over ripe fruits - crazy. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, alcohol, metal, over ripe fruits, vitamins, leading to a dry metallic finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a cloudy amber with a yellowish head. Aroma of caramel and typical hopeless skewed British hops. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, yeast, fruit and phenols. Warming alcohol in the finish. 141109

Bottle, 10%. Sweet, alcoholic aroma, mild raisin sourness. Cloudy red amber colour. Small white head. The flavour also has some raisin sourness, but there is also some bitterness to balance it.

50 cL bottle. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is solid malty and overripe fruity. Sweet and caramelish and light overripe fruity. Roasted and overripe fruity flavoured into a lingering phenolic finish.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy opaque (probably my fault) amber body. Fruity medicinal malty aroma with caramelly alcoholic wild berry notes. Sweetish alcoholic fruity bananaish taste. Thin-bodied with a strange palate. Some acidity. (Hmmmm.) Dryish strawberry alcohol aftertaste. Yuck! This was awful. Is it meant to be this way, or is it infected? (0.5l bottle, City Beverage Co, London. Should rerate.)

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. ABV was 10%. Hazy dark brown colour. Oaky and vinous aroma. Warming mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet and alcoholic, but also malty and vinous.

10% is a stock ale well blow me down with a grasshopper ... light ruby colour ... rich sweetness with sour raisins and a unusual hint of fermented cheese in the aroma ... sweet ... malty ... again sour raisins showing through in flavour .. long fruity linger.

500ml bottle from City Beverage Company, Old Street. Dark copper cloudy beer. Thick beige head. Barley wine, malty aroma. Bit herby. Some raisins. Creamy malty juicy raisins and sultanas in mouth. Great dose of hop on finish to balance full and rich flavours. Juicy dried fruits are great, fruit peel and citrus fruits. Love this beer. Wide and depp flavours. A little bit of sourness. Very drinkable and interesting 10% beer. 848414 3.8/5.0 Re-rate cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 09. Almost a lambic in the sourness. Bit of whisky type heat. Some candied citrus fruits. Some sherry character. Just about the beer of the festival.

Dark amber color, small head. Some vegetables aroma (seems to be a constant in Pitfield’s beers). Some malt, still a bit dry when too cold, but vegetable (celery), that is not really pleasant; a bith grassy and herbal. If not for the celery, it is quite good, but we don’t feel the need for it.

Very orange tinted amber; yellow-orange tinted head, dwindling. Ink, toffee, freshly ground coffee - and quite some hops. The roasted coffeebean aroma is very remarkable, and really brings forward an image of these grind-your-own-coffee machines at the local supermarkets 30 years ago. The coffee aroma prolonges itself in the flavour, becoming quite overwhelming, chicory-like. Very bitter, thus, tad harsh and metallic, but also quite vegetable-bitter. Only after quite some time, the bitterness dulled by adaptation, I detect some caramel-like malt. Medium to well bodied, bit oily & slick, aftertaste very roasted, alcoholburn. Good one - big thanks to Mat Wilson. Actually, this is the finest Pitfield brew I’ve head since their very first London stout decennia ago, and the first one I really like since years.
