Pronounced bla-han in Gaelic the name of this ale translates as ’little blossom’.
A strong floral nose and refreshing taste has made this a very popular pint. A single hop variety is enhanced with elderflower and pale malts to great effect.

Half pint, cask dispense at Dagda Bar. Deep and bright, amber-gold body. Fragile lacing. Fresh floral hops to the nose. Refreshing taste of fruit with peaches coming through. Smooth bitter endnotes to a discreet oily palate (Edinburgh, 02.11.2010).

Cask-conditioned at Blackfriars, Glasgow 18/06/10. Deep gold with a slight white head. Floral aroma, both hoppy and of elderflowers, with some sweet malts. Flavour was led by the elderflowers, with more sweetness and light, dry finish. Good.

Cask at the Southamton Arms, London on 25th January 2010. Gold with a wihte lacing head of foam. Superb floral notes against a delicately hoppy backdrop. These two flavours harmonise to a nectareous blend, delivered to the drinker on a textured mouthfeel. A bittersweet finish that becomes drier with time, but generally the flavour is pleasantly rounded. A well-crafted ale.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A hazy, golden beer with a small, white head. Flowery nose with some resins. Pale malts in the back. The flavor is also quite nice, but a bit uninspiring, flowery, with pale malts and some hops giving bitterness. Quite nice bitterness though. Medium body and a fine bitterness in the finish. Overall, it’s too flowery for my liking, but still a quite nice beer. 090822
