Cask, Doctor Duncans, Liverpool. I always have this when I see it, and this is my favourite Cains beer by a distance. Refreshing, pleasantly fruity and very moreish. Far more appealing than a lot of boring, samey UK ale out there and long may they keep producing this.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Amber with a thin cream head; fruity malt aroma; the sweet juicy raisin flavour is very pleasant and slightly spicy; the finish is dry, sweet and fruity. Overall well-balanced and not dominated by sweet fruit.

[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Deep amber, slight off-white head. Strong and tempting fruity aroma. Raisin is clearly evident in the flavour. Very smooth, mellow mouthfeel. Thereโ€™s a dirty bitterness in the finish but ultimately it gets rather sweet and sickly by the end.

Great in appearance with a fine off-white head over a deep mahogany body. Prominent sweet raisin in aroma and taste. Some apricot too. Satisfying brew, at least for a third pint measured taste (Cains Bar at GBBF, 07.08.2008).
