Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin bubbly light tan head. The aroma is malt light caramel and red berry fruit. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, light sweet with a slightly watery strong hop liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nice and drinkable but the liqourice does dominate and that’s not so good.

Traditional ale that stands up well against the designer styles. Dark ruby coloured ale, lacks a decent head but its mild sweet character makes up for it. Medium bodied with a medium bitterness.
