Clear golden coloured body with a thin off-white head and a light pale golden colour at the bottom. Aroma of light sweetness, honey, malt and a touch of cardboard - not much at all in the nose. Light-bodied; Very nice herbal and grapefruity hop notes show very well and are surprisingly strong for the style. Aftertaste is a nice balance of hops, malt and a touch of sweetness with a pleasant bitterness from the grapefruit and herbal/airy hops. Overall, a nice full flavoured pils with a refreshing taste and a still light palate. Nice to try if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Hi-Time Spirits in Costa Mesa, California on 05-August-2012 for US$2.36 sampled at home in Washington on 24-August-2012 under the label - Mammoth Golden Trout in a yellow can.

Can from the Co-Op in Davis, CA. It’s straightly labeled: Golden Trout Pilsner at 5.5%. Pours dark gold with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is bready with citrus. Med body; frothy carb. Flavor is bready. There’s something like citrus hop. I’m thinking this is a German pilsener rather than standard. Fairly tasty. Not all that light. Finishes reasonably bitter.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of has notes of lemon making it a bit acidic. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and light notes of malt and minerals, leading to a dry mineral finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
