Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a pale yellow color with a very slight haze. Thin white head with decent head retention with a decent amount of wispy lacing. Aroma of strawberry yogurt with a bit of strawberry candy and faint breadiness. This taste is tart berry notes with a faint bit of sweetness, faintly toasted bready malts. Thin-medium bodied. Decent as a summer beer. 5/18/10

Bottle. Pours a light gold with a crisp, bubbly white head. Huge strawberry aroma with notes of wheat. Light strawberry in the flavor with slight bitterness. I would have liked a bit more sweetness. Finish is overly bitter it seems. Overall not bad.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is sweet fruity and light herbal. Sweet and citric flavoured with a distinct strawberry flavour from back of the tongue. Smooth candy fruity - yet subdued sweetness. Ends with a lingering strawberry fruity finish. Not bad.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Aroma of strawberry bonbons. Light body, very distinct strawbery accents, appears sweet but is in fact quite dry. A whiff of something peachy and citrusy as well. Finish is mainly dry with hardly any bitterness. 221109

17th August 2008. Pale gold and very slightly hazy. Crisp and a little dry. Dominated by a mild strawberry flavour (like strawberry flavoured sweets). A wishy washy lagerish finish.

12 oz. bottle. Label dates not notched. Regular yellow color under fizzy head, a little bit hazy. Strawberries in smell seems natural, not overdone, with room for beer malt in the nose, too. Well, I think the taste is enjoyable. Strawberries don’t overwhelm. Malt seems to carry more of the sweetness. Just a bit of hop bitterness. Finishes nicely. A simply well-done fruit beer, not an easy thing to find.
