Heavy Weizen explores the inner depths of creativity and craftsmanship, taking a style of ale that is delicate and quaffable and shaping it into something exuberant and sturdy.
The foundation of Heavy Weizen begins with prodigious quantities of North American malted barley and wheat. Next, the finest European hops are added to complement this ale’s unique disposition by giving spicy aromas. Its spirit is forged during fermentation where our Bavarian weizen yeast consumes sugars and creates divine flavors reminiscent of bananas and cloves. Then, by aging this ale, we allow the divergent characteristics to blend together, becoming one. To capture Heavy Weizen’s spirit, this wheat ale remains unfiltered to leave some of the yeast in the bottle. Serving this ale with a wedge of lemon is recommended, but optional.
18 plato, 38 IBUs, 2-row pale malt, malted white wheat, hallertau magnum, saaz.

22 oz. bottle, pours hazy orange with a medium white head. Aroma of banana, orange and citrus. Flavour is quite sweet for a wheat ale, with flavours of sweet malt, bananas, orange and citrus. Not as special as many of Southern Tier's other heavy hitters, but this is a fine addition indeed.

Bottle at 4:20, RBESG Rome day 3, thanks a lot Alex for my "breakfast Weizen". Murky yellow colour, white head. Aroma of lots of sweetness, mainly banana, yeast. Flavour is very sweet, banana, sticky, yeasty, spicy. Medium bodied. Too sweet imo, lacks any refreshing quality.

Bottle, 66cl @Olutkellari. Poured orange/golden color with next to no head. Aroma is mostly plums and fruity. Flavour is banana, lost of yeast and more dark fruits. Kinda strange, didn´t really enjoy this one.

Rich hazy golden yellow coloured body with a thinnish fast-dying white head and a million bubbles rising from the bottom and sides. Aroma of pungent yeast, wheat, coriander seed, bubble gum and bananas. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich wheatie, alcoholic and fruit flavours throughout make for a nice beer - rich yeast, a lot of spice and pungent apricots and lemons show well. Aftertaste leaves a lot of sweetness, plentiful drying characteristics and a large alcohol warmth. Overall, a very nice beer - I was skeptical because of the large bottle and the strength, but this was a very nice balance! I’d recommend this to all others! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased for US$4 at Trader Joe’s in Falls Church (Bailey’s Crossroads), Virginia on 22-May-2010, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia a week later on 29-May-2010.

Bottled@O’Haras, Tampere. Hazy yellowish orange color, small white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast, earth and some mild toffeeishness. Flavour is quuite much the same. Rather genyine hefeweizenfeeling over this.

Bottled 660ml (Beer Hunters)
Hazy orange color, small white head. Wheaty, bubblegummy, cardboardish nose. Twisted taste of banana, fish(!), yeast, grass and rye. Some alcohol picks up. Quite different than typical German weizenbocks.

1st November 2008. Hazy gold beer. Very frothy head. Very smooth wheat beer. No sharp citrus flavours. Smooth creamy wheaty malt with a nice banana and cloves mid and a dry slightly bitter - spicy finish.
