On tap at Taco Mac. Pours a clear amber orange with a near white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has a bit of a smoke note and is full of earthy grains and hay. Flavor is full of the same earthy notes throughout with hints of must and smoke in the finish.

Bomber from Bruisin Ales. Pours clear copper with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma of mild roast malt with some herby/floral hop. About med body. Flavor is mild roast caramel and some herby/floral hop. It is most definitely bitter in the finish. Maybe a bit more bitter than our cousins would enjoy, but perhaps not. I’m betting this would be superb in a cask version.

22oz bomber. Clean orange-tan, big fluffy off-white head. Medium bodied, very clean. Definitely has some caramel tastes going on, but the malts are so clean that it really works. I could have gone for a little more a hop kick, but this seems pretty true to style. I could session these all night, really enjoyable.

Decent ESB from NC, albeit a very, very malty one. Very malty. Almost as if it’s the antithesis of what you’d expect an ESB to be going on title alone. Not that it’s a bad beer, just one that flirts too closely with mediocrity. The feel is too thin for such a roasted-toffee flavored soul, causing the beer to grow slightly saccharine as it warms. I wish the hops were more prevalent and the carbonation heartier, since 13 Rebels does get rather hard to put away as the pint empties.

Known old bottle. Weak grass aroma. Hazy copper, huge yellow head, good lacing. Sweet malt flavor, dirty, yeasty, with cocoa notes. Tinny finish. Harsh mouthfeel. Neither a good ESB or a good beer. I don’t think I would like it fresh and will not re-rate.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a small sediment floating around with a bubbly off-white head. The aroma has notes of dusty hops, malt, fruit, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, bread, citrus, caramel, dust, and malt, leading to an orangey finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
