Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Skyview. Pours black with a tint of red and a light brown head. Aroma of burned malt and salty licorice. Solid body, sweet dark malts, dried fruits - raisins in particular - coffee and licorice and a little tar perhaps. Has a vague malty bitterness. 220909

Bottled. Really black with creamy beige head. Roasty almondy nose. Medium boided and medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Notes of earth, coffee, chocolate and licorice. Evident Belgian style yeast character. Complex flavuor profile, but the moutfheel is perhaps a tad hard.

Bottle. Thanks to Markus (bu11zeye) for this one. Pours a black color with a tan head. Malty spicy slightly alcoholic aroma with some hints of dark fruit. Sweet spicy warming yeasty bitter flavor with some hints of dark fruit, also some hints of licorice. Has a warming malty finish.

Aroma of chocolate underlaid by dark fruit. Opaque brown/black color with a very tan head that filmed pretty fast. Full bodied. Slightly fizzy. Carmel/sugar sweet. Dark malt flavor, but it isn’t burnt. A slight sour, like plum skin. The finish is something like chocolate with some bitter, with a dark fruity sweetness all over the mouth. That said, it is relatively dry. Contradictory might have been a good alternate name for this one. The dark malt does take away some of the traditional Belgian aspect. Interesting way to broaden the beer horizon.

I think Skyview brought this to the RBSG 07. Black in color. A very simple, one dimensional beer. The aroma has malt and some fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, just a little bit of roasted character, and fermenting fruit. Very dark beer for a Belgian ale.
