In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.

At a tasting, thanks Shachar. Hazy light orange colour, aroma of grapefruit, honey, bread and black pepper dominated spiciness. Very strong hoppy bitterness coupled with a biscuity wheat sweetness, long bitter sour aftertaste. A little too hoppy , but still very good.

Re-rate 12/4/10: Bottle at a tasting. Thanks Oren. Cloudy golden. Aroma of floral hops and honey-ish malt. Sweet fruity flavor, a bit grainy, with bready notes and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium-bodied. Nice stuff but somehow (bottle was acquired at the brewery) the hops seem a bit faded. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

A golden weizen with a super thick lacing white head. A pleasant aroma of resinous hops with herbal catnip notes, fragrant and enticing. In mouth, a hoppy and silky hybrid with intense pinhey hops, menthol, warming alcohol. Rich, smooth and silky. Classy. Thanks Karl, Shared with Probstk, April 2 2009.

Bottle (kindly delivered by asheft!) - sampled simultaneously with the "german" version: Golden, cloudy, mid-sized fluffy "dirty" white head; extreme "sticky" piney hoppy nose with illusions of fresly mowed grass and a lighter wheaty-fruity background; very solid dry bitter flavour, creamy MF, medium to full bodied; smooth, lingering, dry hoppy and grainy finish. Great, great stuff..... The german equivalent is made by the use of different hops, which seem to be - compared directly - a little, little bit less aromatic. Nevertheless also a superb brew.......

750 ml. Hazy medium yellow body below a huge, pillowy off-white head. The aroma is spicy with notes of all-spice and clove. Also notes of orange, citrus, lime and banana. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. The finish is moderately bitter and moderately sweet. Medium body and smooth texture with a lively carbonation. Interesting with nice spice flavors along with chewy wheat. Sweet, but not cloying and nicely balanced with the hops.

Sampled from a 25.4 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was a lovely complex mix of fruit cocktail and a hint of spice. The flavor was richly complex blend of strong sweet and tart fruit cocktail, with light dry spices underneath. A tart spicy and fruity finish lingers forever. The body was sweet and full. Wonderful.

Pours with a huge, rocky, off-white head that falls. Caramel haze hue with good lacing from the head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, banana, toffee, vanilla, and a slight hop in the finish. Taste is alcohol, yeast, and raisins. Very rich but cut a bit by the dry mouthfeel. Still very nice for a "pale wiezen bock". Dryish mouthfeel, warming with light bubbles.

Starts with a huge white head over a cloudy lemon yellow body. Orange marmalade aroma with some spicy pepper notes. Dry, yet sweet with a smooth palate. Very Nice WeizenBock.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. An opaque yellow beer with an off-white head. Fantastic fresh hop aroma, almost herbal. Medium body, heavy carbonation, yeast and fruit with a dry and lightly bitter finish. Lovely hoppy Weizen Bock combining the best of US and American craft brewing. 201008
