Mirror Sisters is a hot-and-cold collaboration with the good folks at Wheatland Spring Farm + Brewery. It’s a two-part endeavor. One IPA, one lager. Both 6%. Both beers utilizing the same hops and grains, albeit in different proportions and applications.

We made the IPA utilizing all Waimea on the hot side, then exclusively Nectaron during the dry-hop. Our oft conspirators brewed the hoppy lager with the identical varietals… but with their roles inverted. One might even say reflected. John suggested using these particular New Zealand cultivars because of their shared lineage. Introduced just a few years ago, Nectaron is a full sister of Waimea. Together, this family affair emits swelteringly tropical vibes, heavy on passion fruit and pineapple, with some underlying tangerine and balancing earthiness.

Both beers showcase grains from our friends Murphy + Rude Malting Co. Ours features a base of Virginia Pils, alongside malted white wheat, Buena Vista malted corn, and Wheatland Spring’s estate triticale.
