Canned, 440 ml, shared with MiroB and Luka. Mahagony with medium beige head. Caramel, some dried fruit, bit nutty, spicy, sugary, quite thin for what it is. Lacks depth.

On tap at The Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard. Nose is bonfire toffee, cola, caramel cake, dried fruit. Taste is very similar to the above with a spicy nutty edge. Rich boozy sweet finish.

Can thanks to my bro. It pours clear deep reddish - brown with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet and rope dark fruits, crunchy cherry, raisin, sultana, toasted fruit cake, black grape, cherry drops, cola, toasty malt and malt loaf. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, toasty grains, nutty, cereal, plenty of dark and dried fruits, raisin, sultana, cherry, fig, cacao nibs, warming booze, slick, oily, jammy, damp oak and leather with a warming and drying finale. Fullsome body, average carbonation and slick mouth feel. Rich and deep maltage. Very well out together. Quaffable.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy brown body with ruby highlights and a beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cherry, fruit pudding, cigar, prunes, orange zest and roasted malt. Flavour of boiled sweets and marmalade with a herbal bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body with a chewy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is a superb barley wine - it’s tangy, thick and very easy to drink for the ABV.
