During 2007, an alliance based on friendship and love of great beer between Thornbridge’s Head Brewer Stefano Cossi and Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver led to the brewing of this refined strong ale which has been matured for over 18 months before being bottled. The collection includes the unoaked Alliance Strong Ale and two finished exclusively in fortified wine casks: Spanish oak Pedro Ximenez Sherry (PX) and American oak Madeira. We hope you enjoy this unique tasting experience.

Bottle purchased at the Grove Inn in Huddersfield. Amber/golden with a medium off white head.Sweet malty aroma with lots of ripe fruits, vanilla, oak, madeira. Sweet taste, very ripe fruit, sugar, caramel a bit alcoholic, decently hopped that makes the finish bitter. Well crafted liek a mixture of UK and US Barley wines.

9/10/11/11//11

375mL bottle from the brewery, split with Matts_Property, pours a murky dark orange with a small white head. Aroma resembles that of a red wine, with tropical fruits, toffee, caramel and subtle hops. The flavour brings out the vinous qualities really effectively, meshing with the tropical fruits, toffee / caramel, and ending with subtle, but obvious hops that linger. Excellent - slightly supersedes the regular Alliance Reserve.

Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours deep copper with gold edges and off white head. The aroma starts with apricot fruity barrel like notes then some pears, plums and prunes. The taste is much the same with an initial pulse of fruity sweet apricot notes mixing with oak and a modest level of booze. It isn’t as rich, syrupy or velvety as I thought it might be. It is smooth and the barrel oak notes well up to the surface with more urgency into the finish. Very nice stuff that seems to have plenty of room for further aging.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has of wood, brettanomyces, fruit, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, caramel, alcohol, peaches, and some malt, leading to a bitter finish.
