With three dozen freshly shucked oysters added to the beer towards the end of the boil, chocolate and roasted malts are used to created the rich flavour and oats to give the beer its thick body.

Cask at The Colchester Winter ale festival 2026, Colchester, Essex. A black coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, vague oyster taste and aroma. Not a particularly memorable stout.

Bottle from a trade with Grumbo, thanks! Aroma is soft roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, hint of smoke, bit earthy, touch of fruits with some fishy notes of oysters. Flavour is moderate sweet and slightly salty with some bitterness in the finish. Body is light to medium. Curious flavour, not a beer I’d like to drink a keg of, but not bad at all.
