Light brown & cloudy. Smells toasty. Toasty character with a light fruitiness and some milk chocolate. Ok, a bit rustic.

(Draught at the brewpub, Potsdam, 23 July 2010) Cloudy brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with notes of dark bread and dried fruit. Malty, roasted taste with dark bread, caramel, toasty malt, brown sugar and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, with some sweetness. Nice and tasty.

05/03 Draught at the brewpub. It poured hazy brown body with smaller brownish head. Very nice malty aroma, caramel and some roasted malt. Coffee bitterish flavor but well balanced, even slightly overwhelmed with some sweeter dark malty caramel and fruitiness. Fuller in body with longer, sweetish caramel finish. Liked this beer, which is much better than their helles.

Draught, at 5.2% at the brewpub. Poured a murky, almost opaque brown body with a slightly off white head. A nice coffeeish soft roasty malty nose, some notes of plums. Sweet obviously and lovely. Lightish roasty, caramelly, slightly sourish, soft taste, no alcohol. Nice but not very complex and far from stellar.

On tap. Hazy and opaque orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweetish aroma of burned caramel. Medium body with distinct burned caramel and a vague smoky touch. Almost no bitterness. Pleasant alright. 090109

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy brown with an orange glare and a lacing tan head. Caramel and liqourice hops aroma. Mix of smooth caramel and vague chocolate to a mild liqourice hoppy flavour. Vague bitternes coming through. Smooth and quite tasty. Vague butterish note appearing into the finish. Mild spiced and bitter finish, again quite dry finish.
