Thornbridge, being among the first modern English brewery to venture into decidedly non-English beer styles (and as such laying the foundation for the English craft beer movement) does not even eschew the old Münchener Helles style apparently... Bottle from Geers in Ghent. Thin, egg-white, opening and somewhat loosely moussy, opening, non-lacing head over hazy straw golden beer with olive greenish tinge. Aroma of soggy sourish grains, leeks, chalk, baking soda, dried out white bread, something vaguely sulfuric (egg yolk), celery, green algae, withering cut flowers, green banana. Lightly fruity onset with subtle green apple and unripe banana accents, fizzy carbonation with a lot of minerally side flavours, crisp, with a rounded, cereally, white bready and lightly ‘sourdoughy’ malt body dried by straw- and leek-like hops providing a floral, ‘greenish’ note but only soft bitterness – as is custom in a Helles. Still this hop bitterness lingers a bit more than I am used to from a Helles – the influence of the American craft beer movement I think… Chalky and vaguely sourish notes in the finish, too. Perfectly drinkable, a quenching, simple blonde beer as a Helles should be, but perhaps a tad too hoppy if you really want to go nitpicking about style assertions.

330ml bottle. Clear straw colour with a thin white head. Sweet grassy aroma, flavour is dry, grass, malt and a little spice. Decent

Keg at Beaverex '18, day one, 07/09/18. Pale golden blonde with a decent off white cap. Nose is toasted grains, straw, pale malts, light citric notes. Taste comprises cereals, crisp and clean, pale malts, light breads, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent lager.

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is sulphuric, parmeggiano, cheesy feet. Taste is the same. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Not great aroma, okay flavour.

Pours unclear yellow blonde. Small white head. Smell is malty, crisp, tad aromatic ( bread) a hint of hops. Mild DMS, not too much to be allowed in style. Taste is full, crisp, very malty. Intense breadyness, sweet ( by the malts) mild DMS ( cooked corn) but not too much. Well balanced bittrrness. Ends à bit too sticky to my taste.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Greenish yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Citrus notes. Moderate bitter crispy citrus flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Nice.

Thin bubbly white head stayed on a translucent, very active, light golden body. Minimal floral aroma with fruity hints. Medium bodied, crisp & tingly on the tongue with a cloying back. Yeast, floral, summer berries & grass tastes with a light zesty citrus finish.

Bottle @ HenrikSoegaard Studieturssmagning, TGV. Nice head with good duration. Color is clear golden. Aroma and taste are straw, grain, grass, hops and malt. Nice hoppy and grassy finish.
