Bottle. It’s an unclear, muddy brown beer topped by a finger-thick, dense, beige head that lasts. Islay whisky and some higer alcohols on the nose. Vanilla and earthy oak too. The flavor is dusty and slightly milky with lots or Islay. Vanilla and a hint of chocolate too. Full-bodied, effervescent, smooth and warming, finishing with more emphasis on the chocolate than found in the initial flavor. A nice one, but slightly unclean, pulling the score down a bit. 100409

500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown body with a big beige head that lasts. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorices, some vanilla and peat, there is a light, but pretty distinct Islay aroma here. Flavor has roasted malt, peat, tar and smoke. A relatively light body makes this quite an odd beer, the aroma built up a certain expectation that the flavor did not deliver. This is not a balanced beer, but tasty and easy to drink. Still I see this as an experiment and enjoyed it as that.

Bottle. Huge frothy head with medium duration. High carbonation. Hard to keep inside bottle, since foam just keeps pouring out of bottle. Quite a lot of smoke and tar in aroma and taste. Quite unbalanced and onedimensional. Somewhere behind the tar, there might be some caramel.

Bottled @ Olfestival 09 pre-tasting. Brownish color, medium brown frothy head. Aroma of peat, whisky, burned wood, smoke. One-way smokey taste, burned wood, ashes. Good aroma, horrid unbalanced taste.

50cl bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours unclear brown with a fluffy white head. Smokey and whisky notes. Very heavy and one dimensional. Medium to smooth, yet quite thin palate. Low carbonation. Vegetables and peat smoke. Not a favorite combination.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of henrikb. Pours a hazy orangey brown with a lively, dense beige head. Distinct aroma of peaty smoke and tar. Medium body, hard roasted malts and dried fruit with an ashy edge. Distinct notes of peaty smoke and Islay whisky. Has a dry bitterness. Quite interesting. 200409
