Half pint, cask at Rook and Gaskill. Clear copper coloured body. Naked surface, poor lacing. Aroma of brown malts, slightly roasted. Taste of roasted dark malts with caramel to the fore. Some leafy bitterness to a malt-fruity ending. Smooth on the swallow. Well bodied for the low abv (York 11.07.2014).

Had this at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Tuesday 12th November 2013 Pours copper in colour, clear as a mountain stream with a slim white head. Floral and also vanilla in mouth, soft in mouth, bit sweet. There is a steady bitterness but it also has a creamy vanilla custardy type fkavour, ok. A6 A5 T6 P3 Ov12 3.2

Cask at Lyric soho (as navigator, 3.9%). It pours clear amber with a thick beige head. The nose is earth, wood, leather, toast and brown bread. The taste is earth, wood, toast, rather high bitterness (esp. given the style), leather, resin and subtle dried fruit with a dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. I imagine this has undergone a bit of a recipe tweak since other reviews i.e. more hops! Nice hopped-up bitter.

Cask. Deep orangeish amber colour with a small off-white fluffy head. Aroma is fruity and floral notes with some mild wooden notes. Flavour is bitter fruity and floral with some hints of berries and caramel and toffee. Wooden and floral hoppyness in the finish. Quite mouthdrying.

Gravity cask at Bricklayer’s Arms BF, 2011. Rich gold pour with a slight, filmy head. Toasty malts on the nose with light fruits and some pine and faint citrus hops. Nice flavor, light to medium sweet with toast, mild straw, earth and fruity bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Pleasant finish, defined by its fruitiness, with some slightly sticky bitters. Very good beer.

(Cask at New Oxford, Salford, 25 July 2009) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus (orange) and fresh hops. Fruity taste with light malt, citrus, orange and a generous bitterness in the finish. Rather light body and mainly dry. Very tasty and highly drinkable.

Cask (handpump) @ The Star Inn, Huddersfield, England. @ [The Star Inn Summer Beer Festival ]. Caramel/amber colored with an average creamy head. Hoppy nose with hints of caramel. A mixture of hops and caramel in the taste not that well balanced though.
